Good Tucker

Tucker: pronounced tuka is aussie slang for food.
The above picture is of the traditional "shrimp on a barbie".  The interesting point is in Australia we don't call it shrimp, it is called prawn's.  So I don't know why shrimp on the barbie is a common phrase.  However, we do eat prawn's cooked on the barbie, we eat them a lot and they are goooooood.

This picture is of a pavlova.  My grandmother made them just like this.  Unbelievably good - looking at this picture makes me want to take a trip home just for a slice.

This is a picture of a sausage roll.  It may not look the best in this picture, but along with a meat pie it is one of the more popular meals in Australia, particular for lunch.

The tim tam, a perfect blend of chocolate and wafer.  Tim tam's are without a doubt Australian's favorite biscuit (cookie).  Whenever we are in Australia we always bring 10-20 packets of these back with us.  They don't last long, although we give some away to family and friends our own family eat them with reckless abandon.

The golden gaytime is my personal favorite ice-cream.  I always get one before I have left the airport whenever I go home.  Again the perfect blend of vanilla ice-cream, caramel, toffee.  Oh so good.  Another good reason for a twelve hour flight just to have a bit.

Minties are Australian's favorite lollie (candy).  They have a similar texture to taffy.  Minties are pretty good.

Lamingtons are made of sponge cake, covered with a layer of chocolate, and a sprinkling of coconut.  Not bad, not bad at all.

And finally, the meat pie.  These are awesome.  I used to eat these at the footy games as frequently as possible.  The best way to purchase them is at the local bakery, who make them fresh each morning.  Mate, checking out these foods makes me want to move back home permanently.
